McIntyre White was founded to bring the spirit and style of the Golden Era of golf to today's player. In addition to the golf balls of the era, the spirit finds its expression in our period influenced line of clothing, and accessories. Authentic golf for the dedicated enthusiast and for a wee bit more fun.
It was a simpler time. They wore knickers over long argyle socks, shirt and tie, and played mashies and niblicks. A few hickory shafted clubs in a canvas bag. No drivers the size of toaster ovens or putters like Klingon spaceships. The irons were iron and the woods wood. The balls were unregulated allowing for lots of innovation. These are the balls we have recreated using today's high tech materials.
Intense interest in hickory golf brought the founders together.
Chris McIntyre has been playing hickory exclusively for the past decade in tournaments and for everyday enjoyment. He started supplying hickory golf sets from his collection to golfers who wanted to play in old style tournaments, which grew into his business and passion (www.playhickory.com). It was in one of these tournaments that he met his soon to be partner, Scott White.
Scott is a successful art dealer who brings to the company; creativity, business skills, entrepreneurship, contemporary style and passion for the game. Together they have charted a new direction in golf.
Maybe like you, we had reached a place in our game where the newest technology could only offer so much. Indeed, today's innovations are great for golf and players everywhere. But we wanted to experience golf on a new level, appreciating the challenge of the old game, the old equipment, and classic style of old fashions. We wanted to hear the swish and thwack of a well struck hickory shot, and feel connected to those times. In this spirit we offer the golf balls and style of this era to golfers today.
